Summary:EMPLOYERS is looking for a dynamic Corporate Controller to
provide transformational leadership for our accounting team. This
role will provide opportunities to make improvements and upgrades
to our accounting processes, procedures, tools & systems, ensure
strong financial controls, maintain superior financial reporting,
and partner with internal and external auditors. The role reports
to the CFO, with the potential for succession into the CFO role

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a senior member of the Finance leadership team,
contributing as a thought partner to management and the
enterprise.
- Directs financial accounting and reporting activities; leads
monthly financial closes and preparation of financial statements.
Ensures the accurate and timely preparation of internal, external
and regulatory financial reports while applying appropriate STAT
and GAAP accounting standards.
- Creates and implements policies, procedures, and technical
solutions to help scale the accounting function by streamlining
processes while ensuring regulatory compliance. Stays current with
financial technology trends and champions initiatives to enhance
financial systems and reporting capabilities.
- Responsible for maintaining effective internal control over
financial reporting and the integrity of accounting records,
including SOX compliance. Identifies and mitigates financial and
operational risks through proactive risk assessment and
management.
- Supports the preparation of the annual budget, rolling
forecasts and analytic reporting.
- Coordinates annual financial audits and liaises with external
auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Coordinates regulatory reporting with state insurance
regulators.
- Oversees accounts receivable activities.
- Demonstrates leadership by creating an environment that fosters
collaboration and accountability. Is responsible for selecting,
managing, developing, coaching, and motivating the team. Job
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance, with ten or more years of
experience working with a mid to large insurance company, in an
increasingly responsible financial management role.
- MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience as a Company Controller at a publicly traded
company.
- Five or more years of experience in Property & Casualty
Insurance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, with specific
understanding of SEC, GAAP, STAT, tax accounting and SOX
compliance.
- Proven ability to prepare financial reports, statements and
projections.
- Strong analytic and modeling skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional leadership abilities.
- Commitment to honest and ethical conduct, full, fair, accurate
and timely reporting, and compliance with applicable governmental
rules and regulations. Salary Range: $150,000 - $225,000 +

- Knowledge of workers' compensation insurance operations.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM.An equivalent
combination of education and experience may be substituted for the
requirements listed above. Work Environment/Physical Demands: This
role is REMOTE friendly, but only open to candidates currently
located in the United States. It requires a suitable space that
provides a private and quiet workplace. This role potentially and
will routinely use office equipment such as computers, phones,
printers, and web conferencing technology as examples.
- EXPECTED WORK HOURS: Schedules are set to accommodate the
requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and
may be adjusted as needed.
- TRAVEL: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to
attend meetings, as necessary
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some mobility is
required.
- May work early, late, or occasional weekend hours to
accommodate business needs.
- Occasional lifting of a maximum of 30lbs.
