Job Description:

Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project development. Purpose of the Position: The Contracts Manager is primarily responsible for the procurement and full cycle of contracts administration, including sourcing, contract preparation, negotiating contract terms and conditions, facilitating execution, and ongoing communication with all stakeholders including third parties including subsequent contract audits. Contracts will include construction projects, technical and professional services, equipment and tangible goods. Accountability: The Contracts Administrator reports to the Nevada Copper Director, Supply Chain. Responsibilities and Duties: (Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential functions).

  • Ensuring timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and recommendation to management for approvals, preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and regret letters, and management and close out of contracts
  • Manage contract administrative matters, relating to compliance, claims, disputes, invoicing/payments, correspondence, progress/review meetings insurance, liability, indemnities, bonds, and retentions.
  • Collaborate with representatives from other departments, Project Management team, contractors, and vendors to prepare, analyze, and administer leases, various agreements, and contracts for the organization
  • Responsible for overseeing all RFPs and selections for Nevada Copper services. Oversee and supervise selection committee to ensure that selection is in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Perform closeout of contracts, finalize outstanding contract issues, issue of final modifications, invoices, and coordinate completion of contractor performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with Nevada Copper policies and procedures, legal guidelines, contracting principles, and cost-effective constraints
  • Serve as point of contact on Company contractual and legal matters. Act as Company liaison with legal representation for potential litigation issues
  • Prepare and distribute reports to facilitate planning and maintenance of accurate contract records and files
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives in contract management and procurement
  • Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations on sourcing strategies, practices, and procedures
  • Review and make recommendations to project scopes of work to ensure complete bids are received
  • Recommend modifications to accommodate regulatory, legislative, industry or Nevada Copper Policy & Procedure changes
  • Provide documentation and interpretation of contractual rights and obligations internally and externally, ensure that due diligence is practiced in complying with the stated terms and conditions
  • Analyze data to inform operational decisions and activities
  • Maintain required insurance documentation from service providers
  • Provide back up support to various Supply Chain functions The above items are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all accountabilities and duties. Other duties required as assigned. Knowledge/Education: The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of contractual management experience preferably in the mining industry
  • A Bachelors degree in business management or similar, MBA is a plus
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.

  • Ability to research, track issues through the system and make logical conclusions as to the root cause of defects

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Operate a vehicle with a valid drivers license

  • Walk on uneven ground Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment: The incumbent works a 40 hour/week schedule. Position may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational needs. Ability to work extended hours as operational needs require to support projects. Personal Protective Equipment required for this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
