About Redwood Materials Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain. About Redwood Materials Redwood Materials is Establishing and driving the circular supply chain to power a sustainable world. Founded by JB Straubel, Redwood is working to transform the lithium-ion battery supply chain by offering large-scale sources of domestic anode and cathode materials produced from an increasing number of recycled batteries to create a fully closed loop that will drive down the costs and environmental footprint of electric vehicles. Director of Manufacturing, Cathode The Director of Manufacturing is a senior leadership role in the Manufacturing team at Redwood Materials. This person will manage manufacturing operations at the Cathode Active Material facility - a high-tech chemical plant with multiple processes and a variety of equipment types. The Director of Manufacturing will also build organizational capability and mentor the team for professional growth and operational excellence. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution. Responsibilities will include: Direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, engineering and maintenance. Define and deliver production KPIs aligned with the business needs. Lead a culture where safety is a priority. Ensure safe and compliant operation of the site. Coordinate plant activities through planning with departments' managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Drive a culture of continuous improvement to deliver safety, quality, productivity and cost optimization. Develop asset strategies that meet the immediate and long-term needs of the business including maintenance strategies and capital plans. Develop and control profits, plans, and budget. Oversee and improve organizational processes and policies to improve safety, quality and productivity Build an enjoyable company culture which motivates employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and consistent feedback. Provide leadership and training for relevant staff to accomplish the company goals and objectives. Mentor, evaluate and develop the team driving a high performance organization. Lead, coach, and develop a team to ensure production requirements are achieved. Set clear goals and expectations for the team including operations and engineering. Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold leaders accountable. Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Safety, Ops Integration and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives Desired Qualifications Greater than 10 years direct leadership experience in a manufacturing environment Experience leading a team in a chemical plant preferred Bachelor's Degree in engineering or chemistry strongly preferred Experience leading a team in a chemical plant preferred. Direct experience in cathode precursor or cathode active materials and inorganic chemistry preferred. Experience of responsible care programs and process safety management preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate the staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations. Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies Strong and demonstrated effective verbal, written and listening skills and professional telephone skills and manners Ability to analyze, create and effectively communicate analyses with all levels of employees, management, suppliers and customers Familiarity with Microsoft Office - Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperatureA passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!The position is full-time and is based out of the Redwood Battery Materials Campus located in McCarran, Nevada.
