Job Description:

Position Purpose:Under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Management, the Medical Technologist is accountable for ensuring that appropriate and timely specimen handling, delivery, specimen testing, results reporting, and customer service are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. -The Medical Technologist is also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory procedures being performed in areas of responsibility will comply with all regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements.Humboldt General Hospital Laboratory is a 24-hour/7-days a week operation, providing laboratory services to both inpatient and outpatient populations.Primary Responsibilities:

Microbiology: -includes the subspecialties of Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Virology and Parasitology.Core Laboratory 1: includes General and Special Chemistry, Blood gases, Immunology, and Serology, knowledge of manual and automation line.Core Laboratory 2: includes Hematology, Coagulation, Special Coagulation and Urinalysis.Transfusion Services (Blood Bank): includes Blood Transfusion medicine, and Blood Utilization and Waste.Phlebotomist: - Venipuncture and skin puncture. Specimen preparation for reference laboratories.Quality Management and Quality Control: Directs the collection of data for studies related to quality improvement; including monitoring of patient turn-around times (TAT). Manages inspections with oversight of laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance document control to meet accreditation standards.Knowledge and Education:Experience
LIS: Experience with CERNER Laboratory Information System is favorablePreferred, 5 years of experiencing working as a Laboratory Technologist at a Critical Access HospitalEducation
Requires a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or a closely related field according to current applicable state and federal regulations.License
