Date: 10/4/2023 Definition: Under the guidance of the Director of
Nursing, the Auxiliary Aide will provide resident services that are
not required to be provided by a licensed individual, including
contact with a varying resident population during CNA License
Certification program. Distinguishing Characteristics: The
Auxiliary Aide is an entry level position in the Long-Term Care
department. The incumbent will report to the Social Worker, with
general oversight on shift by the Certified Activities Professional
and/or Charge Nurse. The incumbent will have no supervisory
responsibilities. Essential Functions: (Performance of these
functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned jobs/duties are
not limited to the essential functions). Effectively communicate,
organize, and manage time in relation to assigned work. Perform
clerical, receptionist, and secretarial tasks, including telephone
skills. Assist in answering call lights while CNAs are assisting
feeding, deliver room trays, open food packets, pass drinks, and
encourage residents to eat. Stock linen and supply carts. Complete
daily rounds including passing water pitchers and snacks, stocking
drawers in rooms with Depends and wipes, emptying trash, and
ensuring call lights are within reach of residents. Communicate
with nursing staff if resident requests are outside of scope of
practice. Make beds, clean and organize resident closets, update
clothing lists, and wheelchair cleaning as requested. Participate
in department and hospital level quality assurance and process
improvement initiatives. Qualifications for Employment:
Qualifications for employment include the knowledge, skills, and
abilities required to perform a job, which are generally
demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or training.
Knowledge of: Safety protocols and infection control measures.
Skill to: Recognize when residents with special needs or
limitations need adaptation or modification to the activity.
Observe resident reactions to activities and adjust as necessary.
Maintain accurate records related to resident participation and
outcomes of various activities. Deescalate tense situations that
may arise in the course of duty. Ability to: Multitask and
prioritize resident requests and nurse assignments. In compliance

Requirements: Required Certifications and Licenses: BLS
certification preferred. Experience and Training: Any combination
of training, education, and experience that would provide the
required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to gain

Visual and auditory acuity to observe resident status and
communicate effectively. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
frequently.
