LOCATION: 741-925 Herlong Access Rd. A-25, Herlong, CA 96113
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State
of California or Nevada. Must have 1-2 years of family medicine
experience or 1-2 years of urgent care experience. Must hold, at
minimum, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American
Heart Association (AHA) and stay current with certification.
Providing proof of credentials (education, current licensor/status
competency, continuing medical education, etc.). JOB DESCRIPTION: S
hall be responsible for, but is not limited to: Provide diagnostic,
therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate
population. Conduct medical histories, examine patients, order and
interpret laboratory tests, x-ray and other diagnostic testing.
Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely, and
professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe
medications utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary. Clinically
manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing Attend to
medical emergencies Record progress notes, recommend clinically
necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or
carry out therapy Emergency consultation to be performed by the
contractor in instances where deemed necessary. Perform minor
surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits Work
collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting
physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising
program plans Assist in determining conditions, resources and
policies essential to delivery of health care services
Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize
early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick
calls, which may include securing health histories from the
patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the
physician
