INFORMATION:Under direction the Juvenile Detention Specialists are
responsible for the direct observation, supervision, guidance and
general custodial care of juveniles in residence in a secure
detention facility and performs related work as required.This is an
Open Competitive / Countywide Promotional recruitment being
conducted to fill on- calland permanent positions at the Washoe
County Juvenile Services. Applicant need to be able to workall

QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university in Behavioral Sciences, CriminalJustice, Human Services,
Social Work, or closely related field; OR 1000 hours on-call
services as a Juvenile Detention Specialist (On Call); OR an
equivalent combination of related education and qualifying
experience in a Detention Facility, related Justice program,
residential treatmentprogram or in a law enforcement field..LICENSE
OR CERTIFICATE: * A valid driver's license is required at the time
of appointment. * A CPR/First Aid certificate is required at time
of appointment. * Complete and maintain training and certification
in Department approved Defensive Tactics and other training
required by the Department..Economics, Child Development, or
Psychology may substitute for up to one half of the required
experience. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:To be eligible, top candidates
will be required to undergo an in-depth, thorough, extensive
and,detailed background investigation:--- * Must pass a drug
test--- * Must pass a background investigation--- * Must be willing
to submit a set of fingerprints--- * Must complete and submit a
personal history statement--- * Must be at least 21 years of age at
time of application.--- * Must submit to a TB test at own expense
upon offer of employment.--- * Must be willing to work day, swing,
graveyard, weekends and holidays.--- * Background checks will be
conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and
the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI), NCIC/CJIS and the
Division of Child and Family Services.--- * The Juvenile Detention
Specialist I position is not covered by a collective bargaining
